Auction House Market Announces First Two Vendors
Say hello to HAPPYJAXX and Coast Roast
Auction House Market — the new venture from the folks behind St. Roch Market — has announced two of the tenants that will soon inhabit its space: HAPPYJAXX and Coast Roast. These two spots represent one-fifth of the hall’s future offerings, as it will host a total of 10 food and drink spots. The 8,846 square-foot food hall is situated at Julia and Magazine Streets.
HAPPYJAXX (yes, all caps) is the brainchild of Chef Patrick Kearney, and is described in a press release as an “indulgent health concept.” Vegetable-heavy, HAPPYJAXX’s menu will be centered around salads and toasts (think: “Okonomi Toast” topping butter eggs, cabbage, bacon and green onions with okonomi sauce. There’s also a Muffletta Toast in the works, because obviously. Kearney has been a private chef for a while, but previously logged time at Peristyle (with his sis and James Beard award winner Anne Kearney) and he also worked with Chef John Harris.
The Auction House Market spot will be Coast Roast’s second NOLA location — its first being at St. Roch Market. Coast Roast’s claim to fame is purveyor Kevin Pedeaux’s use of vintage (100 year-old) equipment to roast the shop’s beans. The new location will be both a coffee shop hang out and a retail space, selling the shop’s beans for at-home use.
